An ideal solution to improve protein efficiency

Novatan improves rumen function and increases by-pass protein, therefore helping to increase milk production, milk protein levels and reduce ammonia emissions.

The rumen plays a major role in protein digestion and allows ruminants to use different sources of protein. At the same time, the natural balance of the rumen is to breakdown more protein than could be used which end up as wasted protein.

NovatanĀ® improves protein digestibility and utilisation within ruminants by targeting specific bacteria in the rumen. Improving protein efficiency reduces protein waste and reduces excreted nitrogen (N) per litre or kg milk, which can lead to lower manure N2O emissions.

Based on results from laboratory and on farm testing and on the assumption that the product results in enhanced animal performance, NovatanĀ® can lead to a reduction in methane emissions in ruminant livestock against a valid baseline.

As a result of including of Novatan in ruminant diets, ammonia is reduced, protein degradability is reduced and more by-pass protein directly digestible in the intestine to be used for milk and milk protein.

Testimonial / Case Study

The graphs below are results of a study conducted on a commercial farm for a period of 4 weeks. During this 4 week period, the effects of Novatan on milk yield, milk protein content and milk urea were examined.

Milk production and protein levels was higher for cows with Novatan included in the diet compared to the control group at the end of the trial (less loss of production).

 

 

 

Cows fed with Novatan had a better protein efficiency and therefore a lower milk urea level was observed.
